OBJECTIVE
Create a logo for a World-Changing Organization
Young adults who identify as Catholic are leaving parish life at alarming rates. Parish staff are already stretched thin with running faith formation programs, marriage prep classes, and shepherding the current congregation. Add the technology and marketing gaps that exist in many churches, reaching young adults seems impossible.
Center for Evangelization and Discipleship (CEND) is a new organization that helps leaders of young adult communities form and grow. I personally worked with them for the multiple young adult communities I help run. Familiar with my craft, they approached me to design their logo.
Due to limited budget, I only designed the mark. I was not responsible for the typography, color, etc.

CHALLENGES
The founders of CEND wanted to have a logo reverent of Celtic crosses due to their roots and donor wishes. I studied how to create Celtic crosses (see below) and I tried to come up with something modern using similar techniques. My professional opinion was to move away from Celtic. They took my recommendations into consideration and we explored other options. However in the end, we went with a Celtic-like cross anyway because it went for the symbolism they wanted to communicate.
This demonstrates my ability to advocate for excellent design while also being mindful of client wishes.
